Umass Lowell High School Team Shootout

Shootout had high quality teams and players.


Umass Lowell women’s basketball program hosted several teams from around New England for a two day shootout on the Umass Lowell Campus.  The July 31 and August 1, games gave high school teams the opportunity to play together out of season and gave players the opportunity to showcase their talents.  The following players are just a small sampling of the stand outs.

Shelby Santini: Winchester High School, Ma. drives hard to the rim and knows how to draw defenders and dish it out, great jump stop in paint, uses body inside, good range and an excellent ball handler.  Shelby has committed to Southern New Hampshire University.

Caitlyn Lyons: Winchester High School, Ma. a smart guard who knows how to play off the defense, great shot fake when powering up against bigger bodies

Danielle Perkins: Woburn High School, Ma. point guard, good ball handler who can get to the basket and finish, not afraid of contact, sets teammates up well and is patient with the offense, great shooting range.

Rory Connelly: Winchester High School, Ma. guard who likes to work for rebounds inside, athletic with a great pull up jumper.

Gina Angelini: Senior, Leominster, Ma. very fast 2-3 guard who sees the court well, quick hands and feet defensively, moves with a purpose without the ball, nice shot behind the arc, good ball handler, not afraid of contact.

Alison O’Connor: Senior, Leominster, Ma. point guard or 2 guard, defends well, knows how to apply pressure, contain and positional defense-does all the little things, offensively good left hand, sees floor well and has a nice pull-up jumper.

Olivia Nowokunski: Junior, Leominster, Ma. utility player with great hustle, fast down the floor, good left and can finish with contact, plays a very physical game.

Katarina Romano: Sophomore, Leominster, Ma. point guard who runs the floor well, plays hard/physical ball and has good size for a point, moves well through traffic.

Meaghan McNiff: Senior, Leominster, Ma. nice outside shot with great range, knows how to use open space and moves productively without the ball; solid all around player who hustles.

The Junior Elite 75 will host the top middle school players in New England and provide them with early exposure, the best in skill development, and discussion sessions educating them about what to expect from the high school level and the world of recruiting.
