Bikofsky to Brown University

November 4th, 2010

Brown lands big time shooter

Senior Sophie Bikofsky of Newton South High School has verbally committed to Brown University.   On the heels of a tremendous shooting performance this summer where she hit 11 three’s in one game at the Boo Williams tournament in Virginia, Sophie’s recruitment began to ramp up significantly drawing interest from the several D1’s including Northeastern, Holy Cross, Harvard and Princeton.

Sophie is a tremendous off the catch shooter with a lighting quick release and has the ability to put numbers on the board in a hurry.  Bikofsky is a tremendous rebounder, scrappy, can play inside and out and has a solid ability to put it on the floor and finish at the rim.

Bikofsky averaged 16.0 points per game last season helping lead Newton South to 15-5 record before losing to Wellesley in sectional quarterfinals.  Sophie plays for the Bay State Jaguars and joins long list of college commitments.  Also recently committing is Nadja Kern of Waltham to Division 2 University of California San Diego.
